The Social Space Station

Tumblr reloaded

Exciting news in tumblelog land! The official Tumblr blog has announced that version 3 of Tumblr is about to be released. This really is a bolt out of the blue (and a welcome one) as the blog had been silent for months despite the continued smooth running of Tumblr in the meantime.

I’m unsure what new features will be unpacked on November the 1st (unfortunately I’m in New Zealand and the day is almost over for me) but I’m imagining the introduction of comments, archives, groups, advanced friend connections … but hang on these sound precisely like standard blog features. Since this is a tumblelog service and the distinction with blogs still remains, what could the offerings be?

Tumblr is just one of the many excellent and free services that keeps the space station operational. I plan to document this one and the rest sometime soon but for now, I’ll eagerly await Tumblr reloaded.

Update: While the Station was in its sleep cycle, Davidville or rather Tumblr Inc. announced all the nice new things about version 3 at the official blog.
