Twoosh! Closing in on the Falcon

I’ve made it to the top of the Twoosh Board at Tweet140! Well, the top of the new twooshers list at least (click the third tab on the results table).

Me on the Twoosh boardTweet140 is a Website that uses the Twitter API to analyse Twitterer’s tweets to see how close, and how often they post tweets of exactly 140 characters in length (the maximum allowed on Twitter). If a tweet reaches the magic 140 character limit it makes a twoosh sound (in the Tweet140 world that is).The data is then averaged out and Twitterers who follow Tweet140 receive a weekly reply tweet detailing how well they are performing.

Here are some examples from the replies I received (in steadily improving order):

You tweet like a pigeon. You’re just getting in our way with a 62 avg and 0 twooshes. Fly far away and stop begging for tweets

You tweet like a duck. You’re just laying an egg with your 92 avg and 0 twooshes. Don’t bother us with all your quack tweeting

You tweet like a swan. Your 112 avg and 7 twooshes is graceful, but if you swim harder your tweets will fly high as the falcon

They’re a little rude I guess but I found them motivational in a competitive kind of way and of course, funny. This service might actually be an example of how games might be integrated into Twitter? Albeit, a very simply one.

The inspiration behind Tweet140 was a desire to access the Twitter API and although it’s not significant in terms of contributions to humanity, it is well executed and fun. If you like it, follow Tweet140 yourself and perhaps you too can soar like a falcon.
